About the American High School, Gothenburg

Located in Lindholmen, next to Karlatornet, our newly built school opened in the autumn of 2024. Approximately 590 students attend the school, studying in the Natural Science, Technology, Economics, or Social Science programs. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English by a competent and driven teaching team with a strong sense of community.

About the Role

As a substitute teacher, you will teach our students when the regular teacher is not present. You are expected to lead lessons based on our pedagogical structure, for which you will receive guidance. You will teach in a digital environment using digital teaching materials in combination with traditional literature. Instruction will be conducted in both Swedish and English.

The position is a part-time employment where you work as needed. There is a demand for good availability and great flexibility, where we may call you for substitute work on short notice the same day. Start date as soon as possible. The employment will last throughout the academic year 25/26.

Your Profile

We are primarily looking for someone with a teaching license and previous teaching experience. We seek someone who leads in line with our motto “Frames & Hugs,” which means clear leadership and clear rules combined with a strong care for each student. With your energy, attentiveness, and perseverance, you easily engage and create participation towards jointly set goals. Teamwork and transparency are key principles.

You are expected to have good communication skills in both Swedish and English, in both spoken and written forms. You have the ability to use a wide range of digital teaching materials and possess a solid digital competence.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
